چکیده

The I)resent study was carried out concurrently with the one reported in the previous paper.' At 5 weeks of age, 72 Hy-Line cockerels were divided into 4 groups (table 1). Biochemical and pathologic procedures use(l were those indicated in the previous l)apei'.' RhSULTS Fceel Intake, Growth and Development. The pairs of groups (7 and 8, 9 and 10) exhibited closely similar feed intakes and weight changes. Compared with the plain mash-fed chicks, the stilbestrol-implanted birds tended to have a greater intake and to attain a greater weight. Thus the chicks of groups 7 and 8 attained a maximum weight of 2200-2300 Gm. at about 22-25 weeks of age, whereas the stilbestrolimplanted birds continued to gain weight, reaching levels as high as 2600-2900 Gm. This phenomenon is attributable to estrogen-induced deposition of fat.'" In both pairs of experimental groups, addition of choline and inositol to the diet had no significant effect on feed intakes or weight changes.

Effect of choline and inositol on plasma and tissue lipids and atherosclerosis in the cholesterol-fed chick.

T HE DISCOVERY of the lipotropic action of choline, inositol and other substances1-led several workers to postulate their utility in the prophylaxis and therapy of both experimental and clinical atherosclerosis. It was reasoned that these factors might influence the deposition of lipids in the vascular wall, as well as in the liver. It was also suggested that they might affect the concentration...

The effect of desiccated thyroid on plasma and tissue lipids and atherogenesis in the stilbestrol-treated chick.

Repeated implantations of diethylstilbestrol pellets cause a sustained hyperlipemia in the chick, and atherosclerosis eventually supervenes. Desiccated thyroid significantly reduces the incidence and degree of the stilbestrol-induced atherosclerosis in the chick, although it is without sustained effect upon the plasma and tissue lipids.

Effect of aerobic moderate exercise intensity on plasma and aorta homocysteine and 15-F21-isoprostane concentrations in high cholesterol diet-induced atherosclerosis.

Few studies have investigated the effect of exercise on homocysteine and 15-F21-isoprostane in animal models. The present study was designed to examine the effect of long-term exercise and/ or high cholesterol diet on MDA, 15-F21-isoprostane and total homocysteine in the aorta and plasma of rabbits. Methods: 56 male rabbits were divided into four groups: normal diet (control), normal diet wi...

بررسی تاثیر اسیدالائیدیک بر بیان ژن استئونکتین در سلول‌های عضله‌ی صاف دیواره‌ی رگ‌ها

Background and Objective: Atheroma formation and progression of atherosclerosis are dependent on the expression of bone matrix proteins and regulatory factors such as osteonectin in the vessel walls. Studies have shown that consumption of Trans fatty acids increase risk of cardiovascular diseases. In this study, the effect of elaidic acid on osteonectin gene expression as one of the vascular ca...

Introdution:. Increased plasma cholesterol causes hepatic damages through oxidative stress (OS) induction. There are many investigations about hawthorn effects on lipid reduction and atherosclerosis. The goal of current study was to determine the effects of hydro-alcoholic extract of Crataegus aronia fruit (HECA) and atorvastatin (AVS) on hypercholesterolemia-induced alterations in serum lipid ...
